—Ben Tre
For many years, aid activities of Foreign Non-Governmental Organizations in Ben Tre province have greatly contributed to the socio-economic development and improvement of people’s life quality in the province.
However, Ben Tre is one of the coastal provinces most severely affected by climate change and sea level rise in the Mekong Delta. Therefore, people have very difficult lives. The number of poor and near-poor households in Ben Tre province remains high. By early 2019, the whole province has 23,538 poor households, accounting for 6.10% and 17,690 near-poor households, accounting for 4.58%. The access to health care services, education, environmental sanitation, and technological progress is limited. In addition, transportation is difficult, especially in rural areas.
The leaders of Ben Tre province always maximize the existing resources of the province to overcome these difficulties and challenges. However, the resources of Ben Tre province are very limited. Therefore, Ben Tre province is in great need of support from foreign organizations, companies and international groups in order to supplement the resources and contributes to the goal of poverty reduction and sustainable socio-economic development of Ben Tre province.
